I used a joist hanger to attach the front 2x8 of the smaller side to the center section. I lined it up with the outside of the 4x4 so that everything would be square.
The first two joists are in place. Installing the joists certainly had a learning curve. It took me a while to learn how to do this efficiently, alone.
You can see how the 2x8 is suspended in the joist. I really think this is the strongest way to mount them.
A top view of a few of the joists. The top of the joist must be level with the top of the perimeter or there will be problems getting the floor to stay down & level.
